I’ve been working through a course on procedural materials. The first is this pitted copper, which I’ve applied to half a sphere, flattened at the bottom, plus a table I made some time ago. It’s a start I guess. I like the colour.
Here’s a different interpretation – bump is more widespread but not as strong, with different lighting.
Since I’ve been exploring parametric object modelling I’ve taken a greater interest in procedural materials. I can’t see any good way to use image textures with parametric models. So, if I get really good at procedural textures I should be able to build up a decent library of textured parametric models for quick scene creation. That’s the plan anyway. At least I have a bit of focus for a while.
