A new version of Blender has just been released. Blender has an accessible community too – I’ve got some interaction there in the past. Blender was the first 3D software that I used, and BlenderArtists the first CG site that I joined. So I’ve decided to try environment creation in Blender instead of ZBrush for sculpting and Vue for all the rest.
I’ve found this great tutorial on Udemy about natural environments in Blender. Despite having used Blender for more than 10 years I’m learning a lot, which is great. So after making some low vegetation we’ve moved on to a hero tree model. This is a work in progress, and it’s an excellent opportunity to practice my sculpting and get right up to speed in node based materials in Blender, something which I never got into when it came out as I was using Vue for this kind of work.
