Some time ago, nearly 20 years actually, I did a couple of retreats at the Wat Buddha Dhamma in NSW. The sala – meditation hall – there is a truly beautiful space. I’m thinking of modelling it and attempting to create a stunning image that represents my experience there. I’ve been gathering some reference on the web. The architecture is somewhat unusual, and I read in my searches that the architect was a former boat builder. I think the design also reflects traditional Theravadan monastery design. I may need to purchase an impressive statue of the Buddha to go in it, but I won’t mind that too much. I’ve already got a fairly simple one that I bought at a florist which has been sitting in my excuse for a garden for a good few years now. I need something a bit more elaborate for this project though.
